Find Some New Arguments.Please!
Find Some New Arguments. Please! I often hear, from modern energy slowpokes, that (in regards to wind turbines) they are “ugly” or “too loud” or “too BIG”. After I address these outdated complaints (for the LAST time.or until next time, anyway), I beg you, please go out and finally purchase the wind turbine you’ve been secretly pining for–or–find an updated complaint. “Ugly”–First of all, beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I happen to find them dead sexy. But don’t take my word for it. Take the Sustainable Industries editorial team who named the Skystream 3.7 (pictured) one of their Top Ten Green Building.
Nanopillars Promise Cheap, Efficient, Flexible Solar Cells Researchers have grown dense arrays of single-crystal semiconductors arranged as nanoscale pillars on low-cost, aluminum foil substrates. When the nanopillars are combined with a transparent, positively charged semiconductor that serves as a window, the resulting 3-D photovoltaic promises efficient, cheap, flexible solar cells.
There is Still Time to Take Action on The 2007 Energy Bill The Solar Action Energy Society has a page on their website that allows you to e-mail and/or call your local representative to make sure they support and include the important provisions (higher CAFE standards and a commitment to renewable energy) of this legislation. On this page they also have a hyperlink to more info on the bill, as well as an “alert” flyer you can print and hang at work or local coffee shops etc. Check it out.and please DO SOMETHING! Renewable energy is important and cannot continue to be neglected!
Flexible Solar Power Shingles Transform Roofs From Wasted Space To Energy Source A transparent thin film barrier used to protect flat panel TVs from moisture could become the basis for flexible solar panels that would be installed on roofs like shingles.
Northeast Dominates Top 10 List for Energy Efficiency Policies The American Council for an Energy-Efficient Economy today released the third edition of its State Energy Efficiency Scorecard, which scores and ranks states on the adoption and implementation of energy efficiency policies and programs. Six northeastern states made the top 10; the south is well represented in the bottom-10 list.
How Cleantech Ideas Happen: Report from an Innovation Summit What is innovation? At its base, it is the act of thinking of something new. The buzzword has been recruited to represent much larger ideas — from solutions for intractable global problems, to breakthrough technologies for our iPersonal entertainment. Washington’s Innovation Summit examined the process of innovation and how it affects business and the economy. (photos)
Chemists Discover Recipe To Design A Better Type Of Fuel Cell Chemists have discovered a new material that allows a PEM fuel cell, known as a polymer electrolyte membrane fuel cell, to work at a higher temperature. This discovery is extremely important in terms of increasing the efficiency and decreasing the cost of PEM fuel cells.

Physicists Get A Grip On Slippery Molecules Molecules of hydrogen are difficult to steer with electric fields because of the symmetrical way that charges are distributed within them. But now researchers in Switzerland have found a clever technique to get a grip on the molecules.
